Ceremony Arch Styling

…at Langford Farm in the New Forest.

On a cold, but beautifully sunny morning in February, I got together with a team of very talented wedding suppliers at a brand new wedding venue, ‘Langford Farm’. One of the suppliers who joined us was the fabulous Ben from ‘Weddings by Benji’ who captured all of the stunning images you will see throughout my blog post.

Nestled in the beautiful village of Woodlands on the edge of the New Forest, Langford Farm offers their couples so much. From farmhouse accommodation, a chill out pavilion, the pavilion lawn, a field for a marquee of your choice, parking, toilets, glamping and the option to bring your own horse on full livery. This is something you don’t often hear from a venue, so if you are a horsey lover, this is a massive bonus knowing your horse can be a part of your big day too!

To showcase this new and upcoming wedding venue, the team styled two mini photoshoots to give some inspiration for couples booking Langford Farm as their wedding venue. A big part of the styling for these shoots was transforming my wooden ceremony arch, which starts as a simple frame, but by adding additional props and florals, can end up a real statement.

What do you think?

With two bride models, Courtney and Amber, we chose two different colour schemes to give two different looks. Not only that, but Mel from  ‘Bournemouth Bridal Hair & Make Up’ and Emily from ‘Occasion Hair by Emily’ chose two very different looks for the girls hair and make up to compliment their dresses bought from Coast Bridal.

So, lets start with Amber’s photoshoot…

For the first style, Nia from ‘Luvshifting Flowers’ chose bright florals, using pinks and oranges amongst lots of green foliage. The Pin Cushion and Pink Protea and Birds of Paradise were a real wow factor flower in amongst the Orange Poppies, Lime Fluffy Alchemila, Pink Carnations, Eucalyptus, Aspiditra and Green Pistachio Leaves. Being in the New Forest and surrounded by trees and nature, it seemed only fitting to style my ‘Tree of Life’ backdrop to show how it can be transformed. Sometimes, it can be hard to visualise how something might look, so this was the perfect opportunity.

Nia used several of my wooden chunks and two of my different height wooden plinths which I had handmade using a freshly cut tree slice. Ensuring the balance between the heights of the plinths and the florals arranged on the arch is really important and something Nia is very skilled at, so I knew Nia was our lady when it came to floristry!

To finish the look we added Bailey to model in the background…but of course, if you book Langford Farm, you can bring your own horse to be in your photos!

Sonya our stationery guru from ‘Pretty Creative Stationery’ created this beautiful flat lay with her stationery suite and included the elegant handmade bridal bow earrings from Tracy at ‘White Designs Bridal’.

Sonya also designed a ‘Vows’ booklet to match, which looked incredible against the striking flowerheads.

If you are using a statement backdrop then why not use it for your cake too? Helena from ‘By Helena Jane’ made this beautiful three tier bespoke wedding cake matching the tulle bow to the colours of the florals and added dainty paper wafer flowers to match.

Of course, I can’t forget to mention we had Amber’s mum, Sharon model as Mother of the Bride. Sharon wore her own dress with elegant dangly pearl earrings from Tracy and a floral corsage from Nia. Corsages worn on the wrist make for a perfect alternative to a pin, so you don’t damage your dress.

Next, was Courtney’s Shoot…

For the second arch styling, we switched up the tree backdrop and used my simple natural drape. For this mini shoot we decided to try something different and go against the grain. Instead of hanging it vertically, we styled it horizontally and diagonally. With the left over fabric at the end, Nia pinned it to make a fabric rose in the corner, which looked really cute and something a bit different.

We chose pastel colours to match Sonya’s floral stationery suite from her collection and used hay bales within the styling.

The hay bales made a great alternative easel for the welcome sign too!

…and we can’t forget Sonya’s ‘Vow’ booklets to match.

Switching the bud vases up and using my large stoneware salt jars, Nia created a totally different look. Arranging beautiful lilac Lisianthus, Pink Broom, white Ami Magis, green Hellebore and Eucalyptus leaves, they all looked so pretty on my log chunks around the base of the arch.

Our model, Courtney wore a dress with detachable puffy sleeves and the all important pocket!

I mean, who doesn’t love a dress with a pocket?!

Again, if you want an interesting back drop for your cake, then why not get some snaps of it in front of your arch. This can give a really impactful shot before your cake gets cut up!

So, you see, with a little bit of imagination and creativity, a simple wooden frame can be transformed to look however you like. We had lots of fun mixing up the styles and thinking outside the box, so if you need help styling your ceremony, get in touch.
